“No way Russell Westbrook is above Steph Curry”: Shannon Sharpe explains why the Warriors legend is the second-greatest point guard of all time

1 week ago 5

NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe says that Russell Westbrook still pales in comparison to Stephen Curry despite his performances this season.

You would have to be living under a rock as an NBA fan if you aren’t aware of what Russell Westbrook is doing. Of course, he is averaging a triple-double for the season already. But as if that wasn’t incredible enough, he is now starting to break records within the real of triple-doubles.

The Brodie is already second all-time, and within single digits of Oscar Robertson’s all-time record. But, recently, he did something, that only Wilt Chamberlin has only ever managed. And, Russ did it once more than anyone in the history of the NBA.

Just this season, Russell Westbrook has had two games with at least 20 assists and 20 rebounds. On a completely unrelated note, he is listed at no longer than 6’3”.

Given his incredible performances, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks recently proclaimed his point guard is second best all time. But, according to Shannon Sharpe, the 55-year-old may have forgotten about another 6’3” point guard, who is not so quietly, ripping up records on a nightly basis as well.

.@ShannonSharpe on whether Russell Westbrook is the 2nd-best PG ever:

“I’ve never seen someone play has hard as Westbrook night in and night out, but he’s not the 2nd-best PG. He’s in my top 5, but there’s no way he’s above Steph Curry.” pic.twitter.com/dBeyFfpZlH

The greatness of Russell Westbrook is undeniable indeed, but so are the words of the former NFL star here. At the end of the day, while Russ has always performed incredibly, Stephen Curry changed how the game was played forever.

Even now, the player is averaging over 30 points this season, despite being double and triple-teamed every night. Better than Steph or not though, Russell Westbrook will undoubtedly go down as one of the best players to ever lace up in the NBA.
